For many youth, the garden and greenhouse program at Voyageur is their first time growing food, picking fruits and vegetables, and cooking with ingredients they grew themselves. But it’s more than just growing and harvesting; it’s about building confidence, sparking curiosity, and helping youth feel connected to the world around them.
Through fun, hands-on activities, Club youth learn how to grow food in a healthy way, protect pollinators like bees and butterflies, and make nutritious meals. Along the way, they build important life skills, learn how to care for the environment, and feel proud of what they can do.
Youth love spending time in the garden, trying new fruits and vegetables, and learning how plants grow. The garden is also a peaceful place to relax. If campers are feeling overwhelmed, they can take a quiet break in the garden before going back to join their group.
