Growing Strong: Cooking at East Side

In non-pandemic times, BGCTC provides nutritious meals and snacks on-site to Club members Monday-Friday as part of our Healthy Lifestyles programming. Club staff empower youth to learn how to cook healthy meals at home as well take charge of their overall physical and mental health. Recently, a group of teens from our East Side Club even helped to make homemade Pho at the Club on a Friday night!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, BGCTC has increased our focus on food security and nutrition by providing healthy meals for the whole family through our Weekend Family Meals Program. Clubs work with local restaurants and caterers to send nutritious meals home with Club kids and families every Friday to supplement their food needs over the weekend. In addition, the Clubs send young people home with fresh produce each Wednesday to provide proper nourishment for their entire family!
