The Voyageur Environmental Club has been owned and operated by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities (BGCTC) since 1968. The property and facilities have historically been used to provide residential day and overnight camp programming for all BGCTC youth. Given the close proximity to the Twin Cities and the vast natural habitat, over the years Voyageur has provided many unique opportunities for thousands of BGCTC youth to explore environmental education and empower them to become stewards of the environment.

To meet an identified community need for out-of-school-time holistic academic opportunities for school-aged youth, BGCTC began the planning process several years ago to elevate access to and usage of the Voyageur property and facilities to benefit more young people. In January 2024, BGCTC launched Voyageur Environmental Club as an official Club site and is now providing high-quality academic and youth development programming with an environmental education focus for grades K-12 youth after school during the school year. Through hands-on, experiential programs, youth increase their connection to the environment, deepen their interest in STEM careers, enhance their creativity, and bring awareness of their role within ecosystems. 

The Voyageur property also serves as an event venue for corporate meetings/retreats, environmental education group rentals, family reunions, and weddings. With its blend of modern comfort, scenic beauty, and engaging outdoor experiences, Voyageur Environmental Club is the perfect destination to create meaningful memories that will last a lifetime.
