Letter from the CEO

Every day, I witness the courage and resilience of the young people who walk through our Club doors—and the unwavering commitment of our staff who show up for them in every circumstance. Yet today, I must share that the needs we are seeing from our youth and families have grown dramatically. Many are facing new and unexpected challenges that threaten their stability, their well-being, and their ability to fully participate in the opportunities they rely on at the Club. In this moment of uncertainty, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities is stepping forward as a constant source of safety, nourishment, connection, and hope—but we cannot do it alone. We urgently need the collective strength of our community to respond.

We have launched the BGCTC Community Relief Fund to respond to emerging and immediate needs. In ongoing conversations with Club families and community leaders, four key focus areas have been identified to protect the well-being of our youth and eliminate barriers to their participation:

Food and Household Supplies

We are coordinating and distributing food, hygiene items, and essential cleaning supplies to families who are struggling to access them. For many, these deliveries are a lifeline.

Transportation

Transportation barriers are growing—keeping some young people from arriving safely at the Club and from getting home safely in the evening. To ensure every youth can fully participate, we are expanding transportation coordination, routes, and staffing so that all young people can access the support, meals, learning opportunities, and caring adult relationships they rely on every day.

Support for Virtual Learning

As school districts continue to offer virtual learning options, we are extending Club hours to provide digital access, academic support, and stability during the school day. We are also providing at-home activity kits for times when youth cannot be at school or the Club.

Increased Mental Health Supports

This is an extremely traumatic, fearful, and anxiety‑filled time for our community. More than ever, young people need consistent, high-quality programs and safe spaces where they can breathe, learn, and feel a sense of belonging. Their emotional well-being is one of our greatest priorities.

This truly is an unprecedented moment for our community. But I know this community—and I know that when our kids need us, we show up.

Your gift today will make a real and immediate difference.

You may choose to support all BGCTC Clubs or designate your gift to the Club location that means the most to you.

Please donate today to the BGCTC Community Relief Fund and stand with our youth and families.

On behalf of our young people, our staff, and our entire Club community—thank you for your partnership, your compassion, and your commitment to ensuring that every child has a safe place to learn, grow, and thrive.

With gratitude,

Terryl Brumm
