One of the many highlights at BGCTC’s Voyageur Environmental Center (VEC) is the Garden Program. Through hands-on activities, Club youth learn about topics such as food production, composting, pollinator conservation, protecting water quality, and the impact of climate change on local ecosystems. Club youth especially love being able to try fruits and vegetables harvested directly from the garden. VEC’s garden is complete with a greenhouse that aids in planting preparation and provides learning opportunities in the colder months. The garden and greenhouse also naturally serve as an emotional regulation space in which Club youth have the opportunity to self-regulate when feeling overwhelmed.
