Third grader Thomas* attends the Little Earth Club in South Minneapolis. When Thomas first started attending the Club the summer after 1st grade, he didn’t know the alphabet and letter sounds after spending that year learning remotely due to the pandemic. After joining the Club and with the support of Club staff, Thomas has shown incredible growth academically, but even more so in his confidence! On the last day of the school year, he proudly read a book cover to cover to the program director, Laura. Thomas currently attends the Club almost every day and continues to show tremendous strides in emotional growth and confidence. He regularly shares school updates, speaks about his feelings, actively uses Social Emotional Learning language, and has strong relationships with Club staff.
